Nature Reserve
Nature Reserve
Our Nature Reserve was opened with help from the Tree Council and its patron Mr Norman Painting. What began as a woodland planting project has expanded to include a pond complete with a dipping platform.
The area allows our pupils to explore nature within the school; as part of the science curriculum and extra-curricular as part of the Eco Club. In Science lessons pupils are able to explore the natural world by identifying the plants and animals that live there. Pupils are encouraged to 'pond dip' to explore what is living just below the surface of the pond. Recently, years 7 and 8 used the reserve as part of an ecology morning, learning about bats and newts.
The Nature Reserve is also used by local primary schools for their own science lessons about the environment around us.
We are also very thankful to AGE UK and their volunteers from Wolsey and other businesses who have helped to restore, clear and paint the reserve in the last few years.
