    Drama GCSE Overview

The Drama course adheres to the OCR GCSE examination syllabus. Students will engage with the set text Blood Brothers by Willy Russell, exploring it both practically and in preparation for examination questions. Additionally, students will attend a professional production, learning how to analyse and write about it effectively for their written examination.

Students will complete two practical performance examinations. In one, they will work in groups to devise an original piece of drama based on a stimulus chosen from a selection provided. The second examination involves performing two extracts from a play of their choice, which will be evaluated by an external examiner. Both performances are supported by accompanying coursework, enabling students to articulate their creative decision-making processes.

Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to participate in theatre trips and residentials, enriching their understanding and appreciation of the performing arts.
