GCSE Geography Curriculum Overview
We follow the AQA specification for our GCSE Geography course. In Year 9, pupils engage with essential physical geography topics in preparation for Paper 1, including Hazards, Living World (Ecosystems), Coasts, and Rivers. These foundational concepts set the stage for their geographical understanding.
As we transition to Year 10, the focus shifts to Paper 2, where students delve into important human geography themes such as Urban Issues and Challenges, The Changing Economic World, and Resource Management, with a particular emphasis on energy resources.
To complement their studies, pupils complete their fieldwork component at the end of Year 10, which is crucial for Paper 3. This hands-on experience allows them to apply their geographical skills and enhance their decision-making abilities. Previous fieldwork locations have included Coombe Abbey, Ryton Pools Country Park, and Coventry City Centre.
In Year 11, we conduct a comprehensive review of all topics to ensure students are well-prepared for their GCSE examinations. This structured approach helps consolidate their learning and boosts their confidence for the final assessments.
