Many families at Campion school have been fortunate to benefit from the generosity of local organisations over the last few months: Rowley’s Butchers, Warwick, donated Christmas Hampers; a hardship fund was set up by an ex-student, Mark Hughes, which has raised £2,200 and Langar Aid, the food charity, is providing twenty-five food hampers, for families, once a fortnight- see attached pictures.

Headteacher, Jassa Panesar, is overwhelmed and grateful for this support at such a challenging time, he commented that, “It has been wonderful to see so many local communities pull together in these difficult times.’ 

Langar Aid is a project by international humanitarian aid organisation, Khalsa Aid International, whose mission is to serve the homeless, vulnerable and those struggling with poverty in the UK. It also works internationally to support the work of Khalsa Aid providing humanitarian aid in disaster and war zones.

David Malpass, World Bank Group President, commented recently that “The COVID-19 pandemic was estimated to push an additional 88 million to 115 million people into extreme poverty last year, with the total rising to as many as 150 million by 2021. The pandemic and global recession may cause over 1.4% of the world’s population to fall into extreme poverty.”
